As everyone transitions to remote working and learning, please share the following information with your businesses and networks:
1. Technology Needs – We need to work together to ensure all households in Burbank with children have internet connection and devices
a. If possible, please allow your employees to take devices home with them to do remote working, including hot spots if they do not have internet.
b. Also, consider sending devices home for employees who do not need it for their job, but who have children. Many employees have multiple children at home and will need multiple devices for learning and/or they are hourly employees who need to continue to work but do not have a device at home for their children.
c. Please send the word out about Charter Spectrum’s Free internet service https://corporate.charter.com/newsroom/charter-to-offer-free-access-to-spectrum-broadband-and-wifi-for-60-days-for-new-K12-and-college-student-households-and-more
2. Meal Delivery – Please let your employees know to look out for a mailing and/or email from our Food Service department regarding free meals for eligible families. This week we gave families 5 days of food to 1,240 families. We will continue this on a weekly basis. They can call the Food Service Office at 818-729-4539 for more information.
3. BUSD Updates – please encourage families to check their email or go to https://www.burbankusd.org/ for the latest updates. We will send out updates every Tuesday and Thursday.
4. Video Update – Finally, I would like to the thank Mayor Springer, the City Council and Mr. Hess for their partnership. Here is a quick video from this week’s City Hall meeting updating the community on the actions BUSD is taking. Please share as well https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k6fRftARGOY&feature=youtu.be
We greatly appreciate your partnership during these challenging times.
